Without knowing Macbeth's thoughts, we would be limited to judging him by his actions.

Macbeth

Without being led into Maxbeth's thoughts and feelings the audience would be solely entrusted to judge Macbeth based on his actions alone. Which leads the audience to be completely blind to the internal conflict he faces.

' Is this a dagger which I see before me? The handle towards my hand?'He is hallucinating himself committing the murder and his inner mind is instructing him on how to commit the murder. After the said murder has been committed he is in deep woe of his own misdeeds so much so that he wishes to not be himself " to know my deed' twere best not to know myself'

The purpose of the soliloquy is to understand the internal conflicts and true intentions that he faces the audience may have been led to think that Macbeth showed no remorse for his actions
