Act 2, Scene 1

what is the exchange between Macbeth and Banquo in lines 25-29. What does this reveal about Macbeth’s character, and about Banquo, in regards to their sense of loyalty?

MACBETH

If you shall cleave to my consent, when ’tis, It shall make honor for you.

BANQUO

So I lose none
In seeking to augment it, but still keep
My bosom franchised and allegiance clear,
I shall be counselled.
In context, Macbeth is will to show favorism based on loyalty, and Banquo is making it clear that his actions will be fully dictated by his conscience.
