What were the lessons that M.C learned?

M.C. learned quite a few lessons.... he learned firsthand about freedom, responsibility, and the importance of family. He learned that falling in love doesn't always turn out the way we hope.... that we can fall in love, but the person we fall for doesn't always love us back. He learns that prejudice is wrong.... and that even people who believe themselves to be free of prejudice aren't always as innocent as they believe.
