Why was Piggy always an outsider to Ralph, Jack, Maurice, and most of the other older boys?

Piggy was fat and had asthma. He was intelligent but lacked social cues of young boys. Piggy sounded like an adult in a fat boy body. Piggy also served as a victim who the boys found fun to humiliate.
