Why does ralph think that jack hates him? How does jack respond?

Something Piggy said to Ralph made him think he knew the reason Jack hated him, but when he asked Jack wouldn't answer.

Actually Jack doesn't respond because he doesn't know why he hates Ralph. This is a major thematic point in the book. Jack's hate is largely irrational.
