Why does piggy want Ralph in charge

In Piggy's view, Ralph is the closest person to an adult figure that they have. Ralph had a mildness about him that Piggy notices. Piggy was also the boy who "found" Ralph. Piggy feels intimidated by Jack: he views Jack as an antagonist and bully.

So Ralph can act like the adult, and thinks jack is the bully.
