Why does Golding leave have the boys rescued instead of leaving them on the island

This is Golding's version of Deus ex machina or "God in the machine". He stops the action because his social experiment is over. He has proven what he set out to. The boys, for the most, embraced their dark side and would have eventually self destructed.
