Why do you think Ralph was so frustrated when Jack said they would hunt the snake?

Ralph is trying to convince the boys that there is no such thing as a giant snake monster. Jack's idea of hunting it gives validation to the idea that the snake exists. It also makes Jack look stronger than Ralph.
