What were Ralph's weaknesses?

Ralph was too kind and fair to maintain leadership. He tried to form a democracy with the boys when most of them would rather be told what to do. In many ways, Jack was a more effective leader than Ralph. Ralph could not intimidate and manipulate the boys as well as Jack could.
