These relationships evolve through the book. What chapter are you referring to?

Chapter 1

Ralph and Jack actually like each other in chapter one. They both feel the excitement of freedom without adults. Ralph finds Piggy to be a follower and minor irritant. Piggy desperately wants Ralph to be his friend. Jack is antagonistic to Piggy from the beginning. He sees Piggy as fat and useless. Piggy is intimidated by Jack's aggressiveness.
