Jack quickly embraces his sociopathic alter ego. He separates himself from his old identity. His paint and mask seem to liberate him from any sense of civilization he might have had. At the same time , Jack becomes much more violent. The painting of the face appeals to the other hunters as it enables them to separate themselves from their old identities as well.
