Golding's writing skills are amazing. One doesn't get one of the most read books in the past one hundred years by accident!

I guess I should elaborate. William Golding is somehow able to capture the dark side of human nature that we all have experienced as children. He captures and uses it in an experiment that has really become a touchstone of behavioural society. Golding uses easily identifiable symbols and imagery to capture our imaginations and examine our, more often than not, very dark natures.
