Lord of the Flies

What do the little ones do all day? How old are they? Do you think a typical group of 11-12 year old schoolboys today, in this situation, would take more care of the younger ones than the boys in this story do?

The Littluns seem to be between five and ten, though it is never specified. I think there is a difference between boys and girls of that age. Boys of that age would not be much different from the boys on that island. I think that, however, girls would treat the Littluns differently. Girls of that age tend to be more inherently maternal.

The Littluns basically spend their time all day playing, eating fruit and relieving themselves. They live in their own world.
