Upon meeting both Jack and Ralph in chapter 1 how do they differ?

Ralph is attractive and strong. He has a mildness about him. He has a vision of leadership and democracy. Golding describes Jack as being "ugly without silliness.". Unlike Ralph, Jack is aggressive and draconian. He leads by force and intimidation.
