Lord of the Flies

The ending of Lord of the Flies is completely negative: it shows there is no hope for humanity.

Which areas of the ending of the novel shows there is no hope for humanity??

The fact that Ralph is rescued would seem to be a positive note; yet when the adults come onto the scene, the boys change. Still, we know that if the adults had not come, there would have been no end to the savagery and the killing. The novel shows us that we can regress in the blink of an eye to what we would call complete barbarousness; it is likely that even men would regress in the same way that the boys have.
