Lord of the Flies

Lord of the Flies Q.

Ralph thinks about resigning as chief. Piggy and Simon argue he has to keep going. Piggy is partly concerned about his own safety without Ralph as chief. He knows Jack hates him, but he also suggests Jack respects Ralph but also hates him. Why does he think that? (p. 93)...

Jack respects the fact that Ralph is physically bigger and scene as an adult-figure on the island. He hates Ralph because Ralph holds power and Jack wants all of it.
