Lord of the Flies

Lord of the Flies (Chapter 9)

Imagine that the boys have finally been rescued from the island. When they return to England, the details about Simon’s death emerge. The boys are brought before a judge where their lawyers argue that their clients are, of course, not guilty. When you read in the newspaper about the details of Simon’s death, as well as the not guilty plea, you are compelled to write the judge a letter that either supports the boys or expresses outrage. Should they be convicted of murder? What kind of consequences should they receive?
