If we are talking about Chapter 7, I would say that Ralph diminishes his leadership by falling prey to Jack's manipulation. As evening falls, the boys start climbing up the mountain once more, and Ralph realizes that they won't be able to return to the beach until morning. He does not want to leave the littluns alone with Piggy all night. Jack mocks Ralph for his concern for Piggy.Jack really tries to connect Ralph with Piggy to make Ralph look weak. Jack also mocks Ralph for not wanting to go up the mountain, accusing him of being afraid. Jack is able to manipulate scenarios to make Ralph look less than a leader.
