Lord of the Flies

In reaction to their view from the cliff, the boys exclaim "Wacco," Wizard," and "Smashing!" (p.27) Explain the meaning of these words and the impact on the tone of the story at this point.

These words are a form of play..... favorite words yelled to create an echo, as the boys climbed. The group climb has created a more kindred spirit amongst the boys and creates a tone of playfulness and excitement.
