"Ralph stirred uneasily. Simon, sitting between the twins and Piggy, wiped his mouth and shoved his piece of meat over the rocks to Piggy, who grabbed it. The twins giggled and Simon lowered his face in shame."

There are quotes all through the book referencing meat or fruit. THe above are two examples. There is much symbolism behind both.
-forbidden fruit Biblical allusion.
-sustenance not from killing
-something the island freely gives.
-killing/murdering and, in the case of the sow, even rape imagery
- sense of home
-sense of power and control
