Things are not going well. Jack's obsession with hunting and killing is spreading to the other boys. Jack's popularity of as a leader who promises fun and violence is spreading. A chance of rescue has come and gone, Jack is not concerned he let the signal fire out. Although Jack is clearly at fault he is able to manipulate the situation to his advantage. Things are going from bad to worse.
