Initially, Jack seemed to cooperate, despite still being controlling, and even share the excitement of the island with Ralph. This quickly changes after Ralph is elected chief. Jack becomes more jaded and hungrier for power. He begins to forget the rules of the old world becoming more violent and manipulative.
