How is A View to a Death broken into sections and whats the effect??

Golding splits parallel sub plots. He builds intensity by doing this. Simon and the "beast", Ralph and Piggy visit the camp, the dead pilot in the trees...Golding brings all these sub plots together in the end of the chapter making for a very intense tragic conclusion.
