Piggy thinks about making a sundial so that they can tell time and better organize their days. While Ralph dismisses the idea, there is more of a sense of understanding of Piggy. Ralph's language is softer and more familiar to Piggy. As Jack's antagonism grows, Ralph considers Piggy in more sympathetic terms than when he first met Piggy on the island.
