How does Jack succeed?
Jack pulls a "dirty trick". He fakes an apology about letting the fire out. This earns him major points with the boys even though Jack blew a possible rescue. They all look to Ralph for an apology as well. Ralph sees what Jack has done; Ralph feels his power slipping away.
