Ralph tells the group: "The rules are the only thing we've got!" Jack responds by saying: "Bollocks to the rules!"

I think Ralph's rules were the only things that kept the boys functional for as long as they did. Jack's view, unfortunately, is more attractive to the boys. Jack's call for chaos seems more "fun" but eventually leads to their collective ruin.
