Hey no problems. I think Jack is the best choice for this. We can trace this guy's thirst for power through all the chapters beginning with chapter 1.

“Choir! Stand still!” Wearily obedient, the choir huddled into line and stood there swaying in the sun. None the less, some began to protest faintly.

“But, Merridew. Please, Merridew. . . can’t we?” (1)

The choir boys can't even sit down without Jack needing the power to control their actions.

"The circle of boys broke into applause. Even the choir applauded; and

the freckles on Jack’s face disappeared under a blush of mortification." (1)

Jack is mortified at loosing the election.

"Before the party had started a great log had been dragged into the center of the lawn and Jack, painted and garlanded, sat there like an idol. There were piles of meat on green leaves near him, and fruit, and coconut shells full of drink." (9)

Jack has set himself up not as a leader but a God-King.
