What does piggy mean by his clain that " life is scientic"? what does he mean by " there isn't no fear, either.... unless we get frightened"?

Piggy is trying to explain that there can't be such a thing as ghosts. He uses logic to explain that science, which is what the world functions on, cannot survive if things like ghosts and beasties exist. He says there is no reason to be scared because the world functions on logic and not high emotion.
