Chapter 2: In what ways is Piggy the voice of reason?

1) The title? Yes, Piggy understand that a fire will make the boys' presence on the island visible and improve their chances of being rescued.

2) Piggy also places an emphasis on knowing exactly who is on the island. One of the boys has assuredly gone missing, and if they don't know how many are stranded..... they don't know how many there are to be cared for.

Lastly, Piggy has no trouble making it understood that they have no idea how long they're going to be on the island, and he makes it known that a sense of order and organization is imperative to their survival.
