why do you think Golding ends the novel with the final hunt and a sense of confusion,on both the parts of the boys and the naval officer

The final hunt illustrates the depth of violence and barbarism that has infilitrated the island..... taken over. The officer is confused because the children he comes to save are not the staid, well mannered, cultivated boys, he expects them to be. The confusion is natural.
