At the end of the chapter, Ralph, Piggy, and Simon are thinking about how much better it would be if there were adults and how they would figure everything out. How is that ironic and not necessarily true?...

This is because they have just been evacuated from a world that is at war and falling apart. It would seem that adults are destroying each other.
