Can you please quote a line from the paragraph that you mean so I can find exactly where you are referring to?

4. “Ralph sighed, sensing the rising antagonism, understanding that this was how Jack felt as soon as he ceased to lead.” Comment.

The imagery is dark and suspenseful. There is an increasing sense of futility in Ralph as he realizes that he is losing power. He can see how Jack manipulates others and the imagery is a brooding sense of darkness in Ralph's heart.
