The boys have a wide spectrum of emotions once they find themselves without adult supervision. There is fear, there is logical thinking, there is planning, and there is the usual fight for leadership. Eventually, someone has to step up and begin to act like an adult, or the boys will fall into a kind of anarchy with the "alpha male" taking the lead. They must find some kind of civilized behavior, or they will not survive unless they respond to the law of the jungle and the survival of the fittest.
