    Dramatic reading

    dramatic reading (large groups with whole class as audience)


    1. Portray character through inflection and gesture 2. Develop skill in enunciation 3. Evoke the tense/contentious atmosphere


    Students read the first section of chapter 8 aloud. The section should be read twice. Cast the loudest and more boisterous students first and the shy, quiet students last. Direct students to read only the dialogue and not the narrator’s words. Assess the first performance before reading it a second time.

    This section covers the entire confrontation in the meeting between Jack and Ralph, in which Ralph’s authority is challenged.
