Little Brother

little brother hippie dress

chapter 3 includes the description of the “middle-aged
lady in a hippie dress” who is trampled to death in the crowd rushing from the attack. Consider for a second how she is a symbol of more than just a single woman being trampled; she is wearing a HIPPIE DRESS ... what does this represent and what could the author also be suggesting is being trampled in addition to the woman?

Hippie's used to represent counter-culture or rebellion against the authority. Getting trampled indicates there is very little rebellion against the state left.
