Life of Pi

What was pi's first instinctive reaction when he saw Richard Parker? Despite the fact that Richard Parker is a dangerous tiger, why do you think this was pie's first reaction?

Pi's instinct was one of relief. He didn't want Richard Parker to drown..... he wanted him to survive. I believe that Pi believed if Richard Parker could survive, so could he.
