What did Pi mean when he said but we should not cling a plague upon fundamentalists and literalist ?

Pi is an equal opportunity religious believer. He likes different aspects of different faiths. He does not like the jealousy that each religion has. He dislikes the fundamentalists laws that dismiss other religions as faulty or heresy.
