Life of Pi

Name some examples of civilization and savagery in the novel ?

Pi's life in Pondicherry, India is quite civilized even though the animals are wild. Pi's dedication to religion and school are "civilized" as well. The violence stemming from the partition of India was most inhumane. Pi's internal dialogue was, perhaps, the most civilized part of this book.
