Life of Pi

life of pi

You said that Pi studies zoology, which makes him somewhat a scientist. Scientists are stereotyped as to being Aethiests. That being said, why do you think Pi is the opposite of that stereotype? Why does he believe in 3 religions?

All scientists are not atheists. Depending on perspective, there is room for both religion and science. Pie is certainly a renaissance young man. His mind is open to possibilities be it scientific or spiritual. Pi wants to contemplate the grandness of scientific and divine experience. He does not feel that matters of faith, even many faiths, need to be exclusive to the laws of science.
