Life of Pi

In your opinion, why didn't Richard Parker already attack and kill Pi? Do you think that Richard Parker was going to but changed his mind, or do you think that he was never going to challenge Pi in the first place?

Richard Parker instinctively realized that Pi wished to help him. I don't believe he ever intended to challenge Pi.
