how does the italian family make their situation positive?
Even at the end of the story the family continues to rely on fanciful stories, their immaginations, and play to survive. The arrival of the tank remminds them that their survival was a questionable thing, and yet they know what they've done has enabled them to emotionally survive the trauma.
