Letter From Birmingham Jail

4. Would the impact of Dr. King’s words have changed if he had chosen to write in an informal style? Support your answer with textual evidence

Reminder: Formal writing is polite and professional- the way you would write to your boss or teacher. Informal writing is casual and relaxed- the way you would communicate with your friends.

I'm not sure exactly where I can find that in the text. I have read it over and over and am having a really hard time with this question.

Thanks in advance for any help!

I think King's formal style gave him credibility as well as a way to exercise his oratory strength through the written word. King needed to sound like a statesman rather than a radical to be taken seriously by the white clergy.
