1) Cassie is uncomfortable around Wordell because he doesn't speak and never smiles.
2) Wordell is usually mute and has a stoic demeanor. He feels most at home in the forest, likes to play music, and cares deeply for animals and people. He is a mystery to most people, but Cassie grows close to him.
