THis was Michael Mann's epic movie loosely, very very loosely based onJames Fenimore Cooper’s second novel in the Leatherstocking books, “Last of the Mohicans” is set in 1757 during the French and Indian Wars

Unlike the book Mann adds a very modern stylistic feel to his epic. You have montages set to a modern synthesized soundtrack.

Both Madeleine Stowe and Daniel Day Louis are great to look at depending on your preference.

The story is very fluid and the visuals often stunning.
