Can someone please help me out? I have a 5-page report due on 'King Lear' in two weeks and I have no idea what I'm doing.
I have the intorduction written, but I'm having problems with the body of the paper. There just isn't enough information in King Lear to write a 5-page report on!
My thesis is 'Love, honesty, deceit, and death are all major aspects of King Lear. Though the characters vividly portray these motions, they are oft confusing and unpredictable.'
I have to work off that and so far I've several convincing pros and cons of the book, but I need help desperately!
PLEASE HELP!

I have not read the play in years, but I can offer some general advice about your paper.

For each paragraph of your essay, focus on one character.  Mention a specific incident (even a quote) that shows one "side" of love or honesty or whatever aspect.  Then show a different incident/quote that contradicts this one.  Explain for your reader how the aspect is muddied in these incidents/statements.  Then go on to another aspect for that character. After mentioning all four aspects, you will have a very beefy paragraph!  Now go on to a new paragraph and a new character.

Another approach is to cover love in one paragraph, showing contradictory indicents/statements from various characters.  Show a minimum of three such contradictions.  Don't use quotes for every one, though, or you will have too much borrowed material and not enough Ashley in the paper.  Then go on to honesty in the next paragraph, and so on.

I hope this helps.

Thats exactly what I'm doing! (the character thing, I mean)
I didn't know what to do, so I just started listing the characters and all the good/bad things about them.

Thank you so much!!!
