White Supremacy
The idea that people of the white race are inherently superior and should hold dominant positions in society.
Patriarchy
When a society or government is based around power and importance given to men, who have more rights than those of women.
Malcolm X
A black rights activist who fought for equality at the same time as Martin Luther King Jr. He is less well-known and represented a more extreme viewpoint by advocating for violence.
Bigot
Someone who does not tolerate the ideas or opinions of other individuals if they are in contrast to their own ideas and opinions.
Black Panther
An organization that fought for black civil rights in the United States of America. It and its members were often hounded by white supremacists and the government.
Discrimination
The unjust or prejudiced treatment of different categories of people or things based on inherent qualities they may possess, which usually includes gender and race.
