How did Mrs. Mallard's reaction later in the story strike you as odd?

Meaning her shock at the fact her husband is alive? We would think she'd be overjoyed when he walked in the door.... she does admit to loving him. But.... she also loved the freedom is death would afford her as a widow. She'd lost everything she thought she'd gained in the time it took to draw breath.
