The relationship between love and eroticism is one of the central tenets of the Kama Sutra. The Kama Sutra is first and foremost a love manual, so the 64 positions are presented principally in the context of fulfilling the love between a man and a woman. The ability to create maximum pleasure in a partner and explore these pleasures, according to Vatsyayana, is the key to maintaining love and discovering the balance of power between men and women.
