Kama Sutra Image 4
Anonymous artist from Northern India, around 19th century. Prelude to lovemaking for husband and wife; foreplay initiated by the male.
The Kama Sutra doesn't offer the female many opportunities to initiate lovemaking. For the most part, she seems to take on the passive role, though she may take on the "man's position" during sex if the man gets tired, or if she is able to convince him that her curiosity takes precedence over his natural role as the aggressor.
