The group runs away from the forest to Central Sea. They see cliffs and the appearance of a stream. THey think they are back at the exact spot they started at. Uncle wants to go back to the raft. Axel finds a "rusty dagger, of singular shape." They look for an engraving from the dagger to give them a clue where to go. THey finally find one on a square tablet of granite.
